Skiathos Villa

SKIATHOS, SPORADES ISLANDS, GREECE

4 BR | 4 BA | SLEEPS 8

This villa in Greece is in an enviable location. Surrounded by an ancient olive grove that's tucked into a protected nature reserve, it sits on the edge of the island of Skiathos, overlooking the expanse of the Aegean and within walking distance of Ligaries Beach.

An architectural home brought to life by 3H Architects, it makes a bold statement, with its strong lines, gleaming white walls and minimal embellishment. Huge sliding windows bring the outside in, and expansive terraces invite you to spend all day outside, taking in impressive views of the sea and the Greek mainland in the distance, before throwing on your flip flops and strolling down to the waterfront.

Skiathos (9km), alternatively, fly to Volos and take the ferry to Skiathos.

Skiathos, the smallest of the Sporades Islands, packs quite a punch. Made famous by the original Mamma Mia movie back in 2008, it boasts year-round greenery scented with wild mint, oregano and thyme, more than 60 sandy beaches, striking rock formations, pine forests, and archeological ruins. The villa is located in the unspoiled west of the island, surrounded by the Mandraki natural reserve, and within easy reach of Elias, Mikro Aselinos, Ligaries and Kechria beaches. In fact, Ligaries is only 100m away.

Charter a catamaran or rib boat, hike to the medieval ruins in Kastro that sit high above the waves, or explore the old harbor town of Skiathos, with its traditional eateries and lively cocktail bars, 20 minutes away by car. The owners highly recommend renting a 4x4 vehicle to reach the villa and explore the island.
